The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of foodbanks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Thirteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year we gave 1,332,952 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.
The B30 Foodbank was set up by the B30 Churches Together network in September 2013 and operates from the Cotteridge Church. We are open two afternoons a week with a fantastic group of over 100 volunteers, who help at our warehouse, our supermarket collections, our twice weekly sessions and at various local events. We also have links with 200 organisations who distribute our vouchers to those who need 3-days’ worth of crisis food.
Despite being located between chocolate-box Bournville and restoration-site Kings Norton, 40% of the children in the locality live in poverty. During 2017, we fed almost 7,501 men, women and children. Each year we hope to feed fewer in the following year but we've issued 4,371 three day food parcels in the first six months of 2018.
The B30 Foodbank will have issued 250,000kg of food in its first four years.
