The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of foodbanks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Thirteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year we gave 1,182,954 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.
The B30 Foodbank operates from the Cotteridge Church and is open two afternoons a week. It was set up by the B30 Churches Together network and has a fantastic group of volunteers from bishops to bankers! We have links with 150 organisations who distribute our vouchers to those who need 3-days’ worth of crisis food.
Despite being located between chocolate-box Bournville and Restoration-site Kings Norton, 40% of the children in the locality live in poverty. During 2014, we fed almost 3900 men, women and children. Next year we would like to feed fewer, but fear we might have to feed more!
