B30 foodbank has welcomed three groups of students from the NCS National Citizen Service Challenge . Following a one hour introductory session on how foodbanks work, the students had a four hour session, sorting and dating food ready to distribute to our clients. The following day the students embarked on “foodbank awareness” talking to the general public about the issues that foodbanks raise. One of the groups this year managed to get the thumbprints of the members of the public making a commitment to support the foodbank. During the period working with the foodbank another group chose the foodbank as an awareness challenge and collected donations. The pile of food arrived beautifully wrapped and with a thank you card for our volunteers. Thanks to all to the young Birmingham citizens for their work and continued support.
